Councilmember Alarcon's Town Hall Meeting
The town hall will be a formal hearing of the Los Angeles City Council Jobs Committee and will discuss the role of consumer protection in ending poverty, specifically in the areas of foreclosure, health and auto insurance, and student loans. The hearing will be moderated by Councilmember Alarcon, with special guest, Attorney General Jerry Brown.


LADWP SOLAR POWER PUBLIC WORKSHOP
LADWP SEEKS PUBLIC INPUT ON EXPANSION OF SOLAR POWER IN LOS ANGELES The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power is seeking public input on plans to expand solar power in Los Angeles. The workshop will offer an opportunity for the public to comment on existing and proposed solar programs. Interested parties are invited to attend, learn about and the future of solar power in Los Angeles and provide input.

AUTHOR REYNA GRANDE
In this presentation, Reyna Grande will talk about her life experiences that have led her to become a successful published author. Reyna came to the U.S. as an immigrant from Mexico when she was nine years old and went on to become the first person in her family to obtain a higher education. She now holds an M.F.A. degree in creative writing, and both her novels, Across a Hundred Mountains and Dancing with Butterflies, have received critical acclaim. Her first novel received a 2007 American Book Award and the El Premio Aztlan Award. Come meet Reyna Grande and let her inspire you to pursue your own dreams!
